Innovation City Belfast (ICB) is seeking a new Belfast Innovation Commissioner to drive innovation and attract investment in the city and region.

ICB is a coalition of key Belfast institutions working together to grow the city’s proposition as a globally significant location to invest in innovation.

Belfast is already home to a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, start-ups, IDEs and enterprises benefiting from the world-leading research activities of our two universities, and the city’s status as the most digitally connected place in the UK. Together these ingredients make Belfast a great place to nurture new ideas, to grow businesses, and to solve urban challenges for the benefit of its citizens.

Building upon such strengths, ICB is particularly committed to maximising the impact of Belfast Region City Deal’s forthcoming investments in five new university innovation centres and its £120 million digital innovation programme.

Innovation City Belfast includes the leaders of Belfast City Council, Belfast Harbour, Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, Belfast Met and Catalyst, with Invest Northern Ireland as its advisory partner.

ICB now wishes to appoint an Innovation Commissioner who will work closely with the Board as an influential advocate for Belfast’s innovation proposition both at home and abroad. The Commissioner will support the Board to identify and build upon the unique opportunities that drive innovation in the city and region.

This influential, high-profile role will require a motivated, ambitious individual with a unique skillset and a strong record of success in setting and delivering strategies for innovation and investment.

On behalf of Belfast City Council and ICB partners, the Strategic Investment Board is offering a two-year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension, contingent on performance and funding.
