As part of the Belfast 5G Innovation Region programme, Belfast City Council has launched a £550,000 5G funding competition to support local businesses and industries to harness the power of 5G and digital technologies, such as IoT, AI, robotics and immersive applications, to deliver enhanced operations and services.

Projects must demonstrate one or more use cases for 5G and/or advanced wireless connectivity and aim to solve real-world issues such as delivering improvements to existing business activities, operations or processes.

Businesses and organisations in the Belfast City Region council areas (Antrim and Newtownabbey, Ards and North Down, Belfast, Lisburn and Castlereagh, Mid and East Antrim, and Newry, Mourne and Down) can apply for grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 to deliver their 5G project.

Partner Introduction Webinar (3 July, 11.30am)

We are hosting a webinar to help potential competition applicants, partners and suppliers to connect with each other to explore challenges, solutions and opportunities, learn about 5G/advanced wireless use cases from elsewhere, and to form partnerships.

Applicants and suppliers can present a 3-minute pitch to describe their challenge or project idea, or the wireless solutions and support they can offer. If you’re interested in pitching, please email innovationfunding@belfastcity.gov.uk. We have a limited number of slots for pitches, and these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
