Our Augment the City programme is bringing together industry partners, local universities and our talented creative digital sector to re-imagine the city centre experience for our citizens and visitors.
We’re supporting local SMEs and innovators to innovate in immersive technologies, cloud computing and advanced wireless digital connectivity to develop new visitor experiences and support organisations that are designing new visitor attractions for Belfast and elsewhere.
Our key projects include:
Augment the City Challenge Fund
We’re launching a £575,000 Augment the City Challenge competition, funded by the Belfast Region City Deal, in early 2024 to support local SMEs to develop ideas, proof of concepts and prototypes using immersive technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality. SMEs will have access to a visitor testbed, advanced wireless digital connectivity, and user feedback to enhance their products or solutions.
Immersive visitor experience at Belfast City Hall
We’re collaborating with industry partners and innovators to deliver a major new immersive visitor experience in Belfast City Hall in spring 2024. The immersive experience will enhance the existing visitor exhibition and provide new ways for locals and visitors to interact with City Hall and the city.
